First half Dec sales results of air tickets – recovery contining – Dubai undisputed leader

Is this the beginning of a positive trend? Dubai is the undisputed leader? Will this ultimately convince LOT to fly there?

As expected, the observed trend of improving the results of airline ticket sales accelerated. Not surprisingly, when it comes to the engine of this growth, it is exotic directions. OTA and agents serving the marine traffic are still doing very well.

Air ticket sales results of 2 weeks of December

After two weeks of December, the decline in gross sales y / y is 74%, which is a dozen or so percent less than in November and over 20% better than in October. The new accelerator of this trend are sales based on dynamic packaging and the return of sales of Incentive / Luxury groups. As a result, consolidators of this type of tickets were among the top five IATA agents.

Among consolidators, sales declines are much lower than the average, amounting to 40% on average. We even have cases of sales increases, mainly in the segment of dynamic packaging (Dubai) and Luxury traffic (Carter).

October / November leaders are still doing well / better than average

The trend of improving the results among agents who did relatively better in October and November was strengthened. This is especially true for OTA agents as well as seafarers’ agents. Agents with a total sales result at the last year’s level appeared in the latter group.

TUI enters the game

TUI also appears high on the sales list. Thus, we can see that it enters the game with its dynamic packaging. The popularity of this segment could not go unnoticed. However, we will see what it will look like next.

TUI is aggressively entering dynamic packaging market in Poland

Itaka and Rainbow bet on charter flights

Two other market leaders took a different path. They put a lot of emphasis on charter, Itaka is launching a product based on A330. The rival from Łódź bet on Kenya and the Dominican Republic. Ecco is also out of the game, and this agent will certainly want to join the race for customers in exotic destinations.

Itaka will fly A330 to Oman Cuba and Zanzibar from 20th december

Dubai is the undisputed leader

Dubai is the No. 1 destination in terms of sales volume, additionally with the result doubled compared to last year. The Maldives are on his heels, followed by Zanzibar Cancun and Punta Cana. Again, it is worth emphasizing that LOT does not offer any of the above-mentioned destinations in its regular network. What hurts the most is the lack of operations to Dubai.

Dubai its time for LOT to start flying there

We will see what the results of the next weeks will look like, certainly, the charter places thrown on the market may cause some confusion. On the other hand, Fly Dubai and Qatar Airways return to flying from Poland. They will certainly take care of affordable offers.

The surplus of charter places can also be an opportunity to implement innovations. The Citizen Plane company is entering Poland more strongly with its solution for selling the “remaining” charter tickets.
