Lockdown all over Poland from Saturday 20th of March. Hotels will be closed for tourists

During today’s conference, Minister of Health Andrzej Niedzielski announced that from March 20, all of Poland will be subject to new restrictions. Among others, hotels and accommodation facilities, cinemas, theaters and swimming pools. The exception will be employee hotels. The restrictions are to apply until April 9 (details will be known after the publication of the Ordinance of the Council of Ministers).

The average infections for the entire country is 47.9 per 100,000 people. “Decisions on further restrictions will therefore apply to the whole of Poland, not only regions” – announced Niedzielski. The only solution is to apply restrictions to all of Poland.

“We are worried, among others intensity of movement across the country. I am appealing for moderation, I am appealing to switch to remote work” – said the minister.

Niedzielski said: “We are all concerned about the number of daily illnesses. The dynamics of infections is definitely accelerating. The pace is not slowing down, but it is increasing. Time has come for decisive steps.”

Today there were 25 thousands new coronavirus infections in Poland, which means an increase in COVID-19 infections by 45 percent, compared to the previous week.

The main cause of the situation is the British variant of the coronavirus – emphasized the minister. The percentage of the British mutation has reached 52 percent. At the beginning of January, this share was 5 percent. “Analyzing the situation, we see a deterioration in the situation practically in the entire country” – he added.

So far the following voivodships are locked up: Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Pomorskie, Mazowieckie and Lubuskie. From Saturday, 20th of March, lockdown will apply to the whole country. It means that hotels will not be allowed to accept leisure travelers and other facilities such as museums galleries, skiing slopes etc. will be closed.
